Practice route around Cheetham Hill Driving Test Centre
One of the practice routes we drive in Cheetham Hill lessons. It starts at the test centre on Alderglen Road, heads down Cheetham Hill Road towards the city edge through Strangeways, loops the back streets through Miles Platting and Collyhurst, then comes back up Queens Road and Cheetham Hill Road. It mixes busy A-road traffic, box junctions, tight parked-up streets and stop-start town driving in one run. This is an approximate map of roads we actually drive, not an official DVSA test route.

- Pull out of the test centre and turn right onto Alderglen Road.
- Turn right onto Thorngate Road, then left onto Elizabeth Street, bearing right to stay on it.
- At the end of the road, turn right onto Cheetham Hill Road (A665) and follow it towards the city.
- Turn left onto Corporation Street, then bear slightly right onto Angel Street.
- Turn left onto Hatter Street, right onto Marshall Street, then left onto Mason Street.
- Turn right onto Thompson Street, then left onto Oldham Road (A62).
- Turn right onto Butler Street, then left onto Lower Vickers Street.
- Bear slightly right onto James Street, then turn left onto Varley Street.
- Continue straight as Varley Street becomes Collyhurst Street.
- At the end of the road, turn right onto Rochdale Road (A664).
- Turn left onto Topley Street, then bear slightly right to join Queens Road (A6010) and follow it on.
- Turn right onto Cheetham Hill Road (A665).
- Turn left onto Balmfield Street, left onto Heywood Street, then right onto Alderglen Road to finish back at the test centre.
