Practice route around Bury Driving Test Centre
One of the practice routes we use in lessons around Bury. It starts at the test centre, loops out through Elton and Walshaw and returns through the busier town-centre approaches — a good mix of quiet road work and traffic in a single run. This is an approximate map of roads we actually drive, not an official DVSA test route.

- Pull out of the test centre car park and turn left onto Brook Street.
- At the end of Brook Street, turn left into Topping Street, then left again onto Peter Street.
- Turn right onto Bell Lane (B6222).
- Bear slightly right onto Peel Way (A56) and follow it for about a mile.
- Keep slightly right onto Bolton Street, which becomes Bolton Road (A58) heading out towards Elton.
- Turn right onto Stephen Street (B6212).
- Turn left onto Ainsworth Road (B6196) and follow it out towards Walshaw.
- Turn right onto Lowercroft Road and stay on it as it runs into High Street.
- Turn right onto Walshaw Road and follow it down through Woolfold.
- At the end of Walshaw Road, turn right, then continue straight onto Crostons Road.
- Turn right onto Wood Street, then bear left onto Victoria Street.
- Turn left onto Olive Street and merge right onto the A58.
- Keep left, then straight, to rejoin Peel Way (A56) back towards town, continuing onto Bell Lane.
- Turn left onto Brook Street, then right to finish back at the test centre.
