Terms & Conditions

These are the lesson terms for pupils learning with FSK Driving Instructors across Middleton, Bury, Rochdale, Chadderton and the surrounding Greater Manchester areas. Please read them before your first lesson.

01

Instructor agreement & self-employed status

FSK Driving Instructors is a network of qualified, self-employed driving instructors. When you book lessons, the agreement for tuition, scheduling and payment is made directly between you (the pupil) and your driving instructor personally — not between you and FSK Driving Instructors.

Any question about lesson times, cancellations, payments or refunds is settled directly with your instructor.

02

Lesson fees & payment

  • All lesson fees must be paid on time and in full, with no issues or delays, using the method agreed with your instructor.
  • Pay-as-you-go lessons are paid before or at the start of each lesson.
  • Block bookings must be paid in full on the first lesson of the block, unless something different is agreed directly with your instructor.
  • All block booking hours must be taken as two-hour lessons. They cannot be split into single one-hour lessons.
  • One-hour lessons are subject to availability and cannot be guaranteed.
  • Intensive courses are subject to instructor availability, diary space and DVSA test availability.
  • Repeated late or missed payments may result in lessons being paused or stopped.
03

Cancellations — 48 hours' notice

  • A minimum of 48 hours' notice is required to cancel, postpone or rearrange a lesson.
  • Less than 48 hours' notice, a no-show, or a lesson cut short on the day may be charged at 100% of the full lesson fee.
  • Cancellation arrangements are between you and your instructor personally, not between you and FSK Driving Instructors.
  • If your instructor has to cancel or is delayed by traffic, weather or a breakdown, the lost time is added to a later lesson or credited back to you.
04

Licence, eyesight & fitness to drive

  • You must hold a valid UK provisional (or full) driving licence and show it to your instructor before your first lesson.
  • You must meet the DVSA eyesight standard — reading a number plate from 20.5 metres, with glasses or contact lenses if you need them.
  • You must be fit to drive. Lessons will not go ahead if your instructor believes you are affected by alcohol, drugs or medication that makes you drowsy. The full lesson fee still applies.
  • You must tell your instructor about any medical condition that could affect your driving or your licence.
05

Test readiness & DVSA guidance

FSK instructors follow DVSA guidance on driving standards and test readiness. If your instructor says you are not yet ready for your practical test, that guidance must be followed — please listen to your instructor.

  • Booking a test date does not automatically guarantee the use of your instructor's car.
  • If your instructor judges that you have not reached a safe, consistent, independent standard, they may withhold the tuition car for the test in the interest of your safety and the safety of other road users.
  • Test-day sessions usually include a warm-up lesson, travel to the test centre, use of the car for the test and the journey home. This must be booked and agreed in advance.
06

Care of the tuition vehicle

  • The dual-control car is your instructor's workplace. Please treat it with care and follow your instructor's instructions at all times.
  • Abusing the vehicle is not acceptable — for example forcing gear changes against instruction, deliberate wheel-spinning, riding the clutch after being asked not to, slamming doors, kicking the interior, smoking or vaping inside, or eating and drinking without permission.
  • If your instructor believes you are driving dangerously or risking damage to the car, they may end the lesson immediately. The full lesson fee remains payable.
  • Any deliberate or careless damage to the car or its interior will be charged to you at the cost of repair or professional cleaning.
07

Fines, tickets & penalties

While you are in the driving seat and in control of the car, you are responsible for your own driving and for following the Highway Code.

  • Any fine, ticket or penalty incurred while you are driving is your responsibility — including speeding and speed camera penalties, driving in a bus lane, bus gate or restricted zone, red light and box junction penalties, and parking or stopping penalty notices.
  • Your instructor, as the registered keeper, is legally required to name the driver in control of the car at the time of an alleged offence when asked by the police or a local authority.
  • You will be responsible for paying the fine and for any penalty points applied to your licence.
  • Any administration or court costs caused by the offence are also your responsibility.
08

Behaviour & respect

  • Lessons are a respectful, safe space. Abusive, threatening or discriminatory behaviour towards your instructor will end the lesson immediately and no refund will be given.
  • Your instructor may also end lessons permanently where behaviour or safety concerns continue.
09

Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated from time to time. The version shown on this page is the current one. If you have a question about anything here, speak to your instructor before your next lesson.
